Payable Forms - How to Test your Form

We recommend testing your form out before sharing it widely, here's how!

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Before sharing your form with your audience we strongly recommend making test submissions on it to ensure everything is looking and functioning as you want it to. In Payable's Test Mode you can place test orders on your form and process fake payments at checkout enabling you to see your customers' experience end-to-end.

Due to a recent update to the Google Forms interface, there are 2 different ways to make a test submission on your form depending on the interface of your form.

V1 Google Form Toolbar - Eye Icon

Forms V2 Toolbar

V2 Google Form Toolbar - Link Icon

Testing on V1 Forms - Eye Icon

With this interface version of Google Forms you will have an eye icon (Preview) in your toolbar.

Steps to Make a Test Submission

  1. Click Preview to quickly preview your form (how it appears to respondents)

  2. Fill out your form

  3. Once finished filling out your form click Submit to generate your Payable Order

Testing on V2 Forms - Link Icon

With this interface version of Google Forms there are a few updates:

  • The eye icon: Clicking the Preview button (eye icon) will show you a preview of how your form looks to respondents, but does not allow you to make a submission to the form - you cannot submit a response to it, thereby you are unable to generate a test Payable order.

  • The link icon: Clicking the Copy Responder Link (link icon) will open a modal window containing the shareable link to your form, copy this link and paste it into a new tab or browser window to view your form and make a submission on it.

  • The Publish button: In order to make test submissions to your form and to share it with others, you first must Publish your form. Clicking on Publish will open a modal window where you can choose who has access to your form - leave this open if you want to share your form widely (eg: on your website, in your newsletter, on social media).

Steps to Make a Test Submission

  1. Click on Publish, then in the modal window click on Publish again to confirm

  2. Click on Copy Responder Link (link icon)

  3. Copy the provided URL

  4. Open a new browser tab or window and paste the URL into the address bar

  5. Fill out your form

Once finished filling out your form click Submit to generate your Payable Order
