How to Change the Timezone in Google Sheets

Updating your sheet's timezone so your submission timestamps are accurate.

Updated today

If your timestamps or date/time values aren’t displaying correctly, it may be due to your Google Sheet’s timezone settings. Updating the timezone ensures all date and time data aligns with your location.

Steps to Change the Timezone

  1. Open your Google Sheet

  2. Click File in the top menu

  3. Select Settings

  4. In the General tab, find Time zone

  5. Choose your desired timezone from the dropdown

  6. Click Save and reload

What This Affects

  • Timestamps (e.g., form submissions)

  • Date and time formulas

  • Any time-based calculations

Important Notes

  • Changing the timezone will update how existing timestamps are displayed

  • If your Google Form is linked to the sheet, make sure both use the same timezone for consistency

  • This setting applies to the entire sheet (not individual users)

Aligning your timezone helps ensure payment and submission times match correctly.
